Holiday Home Tour 2016: Our Cozy Christmas Den
Every year around this time, I am in disbelief at how quickly my most favorite month of the year is flying by! It always seems to move impossibly fast and with not enough time to both get everything done and to relax in the coziness that is all around you this season. I remember last year being disappointed that I never got to sit down with a book in our Christmas den. I still haven't had a moment to sit down in relax in there like I would like, but I still have a couple of weeks and the great thing about our den is that you can see into it from all of our other living areas. It is there waiting for you to come inside and sit down with a good book.
Our live tree sits between the living room and the den and the entryway between the two rooms is crowned with a flocked garland, our stockings and hanging lanterns.
Unlike the rest of our house where we kind of get things bare before we start adding Christmas, our den is our "collection space" and we don't really want to do that in there. So because of that, we just add a few Christmas touches here and there to give it a cozy feel and also too add to the vintage vibe that is already happening. I strung up three old paper Christmas decorations that my mom used to hang in our house at Christmastime when I was growing up. We added a Christmas blanket and pillow to the papisan chair and we placed some of our favorite childhood Christmas books out on display on the bench in front of our shelves. Cozy is the name of the game in the den.
Hands down, my favorite part touch is the flocked garland on the red chandelier. I had been waiting to put flocked garland on that baby ever since we rehabbed and installed it this summer.
The final room in our 2016 Holiday Home Tour will be our kitchen - which you happen to have a great view of from our den.
That's about it for the den. Like the rest of our house, it has lots of nostalgia blended in with our style - and for us, our den is the "fun" room in the house. I hope that you have enjoyed stopping by and remember, you can see daily shots by following me on Instagram and you can read my articles in the Apple News format. Next and last stop on the tour is the kitchen. Until the next time!
