New Season in Our Lives, Same Style Though
One of the reasons that I started this blog was I felt in myself and with talking to other people a disconnect between the person you truly are versus the person you put out into the world. This really manifests itself quite a bit in your personal style. Your style is kind of your way of saying “hey world, this is what I like.” You do this with the way you decorate your home and the way you present yourself with the clothes and accessories that you wear.
I absolutely adore accessorizing with things that mean something special to me or that represent something I love. I do this in our home and on my person, and so does George. I might love something because it speaks to me, i.e. I think it is beautiful, or because it has sentimental value to me. Accessorizing your life with things that have value beyond the dollar sign is such an important thing because believe it or not, the things you visually see regularly impact the way that you feel. (George made that bench in the photos, by the way.)
George and I both happen to love being outdoors. You can read all about our late fall camping trip that we took this past year to read more about that passion here. We both adore the fact that the other person is enamored with being out in nature as much as the other one. We get out in the woods as much as possible and hope to move to either the mountains or a lake in the future – the sooner the better. Even though we live in a townhome now, I bought the place because it is literally 20 feet from a little bit of woods that serves as the backdrop to every window in our home.
So why I am I yammering on and on about this? I love when I find a product that is both stylish but represents our love of nature and the outdoors. While the style in our home is truly eclectic, I try to bring in natural elements whenever I can [see our nature inspired harvest home here, our mountain-inspired Christmas home here and our spring refresh here]. And even though I’ve only shown you a sneak peak on Instagram [here] of what I’m coming up with for our nursery, you better believe our kid is going to be surrounded by nature even when he is a wee little one.
When it comes to what we wear, I kind of think if you looked at George and I you would know that we are going to live in a log cabin on a lake someday. Someone told me the other day that they thought I looked like the type of person that would wear my baby in a wrap when he is born. This really struck a chord with me because that is exactly how I always pictured myself carrying my little one and it made me happy that this is how I was presenting myself to the world.
I’m getting to my point now. George is a lover of watches. Like, he is obsessed with watches, all different kinds. Recently, I had come across watches that are made of wood and I really wanted George to have one. They just looked like something that should be on George’s wrist – his ideal accessory. And I was so right. The watch that George is wearing is designed and manufactured by JORD and we are both extremely impressed with both the design and the quality of his watch.
George selected a JORD watch that is made from dark sandalwood. It is super light in weight but has so much personality. His watch can be found here. He loves the way that the burgundy face of the watch offsets against the dark wood that surrounds it. It doesn’t just look good either, it keeps accurate time and has easy to use chronograph technology. You can pick out your own JORD watch here and click on the link at the bottom of this article to enter to win a $100 credit - one of my followers will win a $100 e-gift code and every other entrant receives a $25 e-gift code!
Besides the unique watch itself, JORD watches come in a pretty cool box that actually serves as a wooden watch humidor. Um, I want one for myself. (And by the way, they make women’s watches as well so I am so getting one - find them here).
I just really love that the watch looks so masculine and fits so well with George’s whole vibe. Great stuff, seriously. Here is the really awesome part – JORD is offering one of my followers a $100 e-gift code for your very own JORD watch. All you have to do is click here and and fill out a simple entry form. One of my followers will receive the $100 prize and every follower who enters receives a $25 e-gift code. Be sure that you are following me on Instagram so you can watch the video I'll be sharing later with more information about this cool wooden watch (follow me here).
